Pittsburgh Mini Sessions are a great option for Family Photos this year!

LOVE mini sessions!!! Throughout the year I periodically offer a 1-day Family Photo event, often at North Park… When you book a mini session with me, you can expect more than a picture of everybody looking at the camera- we will capture LOTS of fun, relaxed candids and emotional-driven photos that are unique to YOUR family! And of course we will have FUN making the images, guaranteed.

(Already ready to book? Head here to request a time slot or be the first to know about my next Mini Session event by joining my free VIP Email list!)

Okay, so let’s assume you have no idea what a mini session is. Here are some FAQs about Mini Sessions

1. What are mini sessions?

A mini session is a very short photo session, only 15-20 minutes long. The photographer picks the location and you select one of her available time slots. With the limited shoot time, outfit changes are not an option. Also because of the short time frame, minis are available for immediate families only. But the advantage of these sessions is the lower price point… And it’s a great way to try out a new photographer and see if you like her style!

2. When should I choose a mini session instead of a full session?

Most families choose mini sessions when they are just looking for a handful of photos for a holiday card or the wall. They don’t need multiple outfit changes or a specific photoshoot location, and they are pretty certain their kids will cooperate!

(This is key, btw. Make sure to think about how your kids will handle the session… the very short timeframe does not leave them much time to warm up for the camera. It’s a good idea to be ready to roll with some pouts or shyness!)

3. What if it rains? What if we book and then want to reschedule?

Each mini session date has a predetermined backup date for rain– make sure to keep that date open as well!

Please keep in mind that photographers are able to keep costs down for these sessions because all families are photographed on the same day at the same location. Because of this, rescheduling by client is not an option. Of course please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about the scheduled photo session dates.

4. What should we expect from the session itself?

A couple of days before your session date I will ask you fill out a questionnaire, giving me more information about your family and goals for the session. This is also your opportunity to reach out with any final questions.

The day of the session you arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time slot, to check in.

During your session I will start with a basic pose. Everyone is generally pretty comfortable looking at the camera, so we will start there. After that I will encourage you all to look at each other, and we will play games and snuggles and tickles (particularly with younger kids). Most importantly we HAVE FUN! We’ll usually have time for a couple of different setups, with some variation within those poses. If it is important for you to have photos of any specific combinations of people, please let me know ahead of time.

The session goes quickly! After fall mini sessions I will be sure to have your photos to you with plenty of time to order your holiday cards.

As always, members of my VIP Email List got first dibs on timeslots (Become a member yourself to be the first to know about these things- it’s FREE!)… Head over to the mini session signup page to learn more and reserve your own time slot.

Looking forward to spending time with your family!
